- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Writing Lab professional and Work Study staff.
- Develop, document, and maintain training and operational procedures for professional and Work Study staff.
- Coordinate Writing Lab services in collaboration with the Associate Director and Learning Center Manager.
- Regularly assess services and resources for usage and effectiveness.
- Deliver department-wide communication regarding operational procedures, training initiatives, system updates, and instructional best practices.
- Develop and maintain Writing Lab website content to ensure effectiveness and fidelity to current operations and related technologies.
- Establish and maintain an asynchronous collection of instructional resources to be periodically reviewed and updated.
- Maintain tutor training content in collaboration with the Learning Center Manager to comply with the College Reading and Learning Association’s International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) requirements.
- Contribute to the ITTPC recertification process, in collaboration with the Learning Center Manager and Associate Director.
- Organize outreach activities, including communication efforts, student and faculty development initiatives, synchronous training sessions, and regular updates.
- Master’s degree in English or related field.
- Minimum of five years of academic support experience in higher education.
- Prior supervisory management and training and development experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member and with other departments, both in person and virtually.
- Flexibility to work a schedule aligned with university and student needs, including evenings and weekends.
- Subject matter expertise in student writing development and instructional best practices.
- Demonstrated track record of exceptional customer service in a professional environment.
- Able to set own priorities, work effectively under pressure, and meet frequently occurring deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, patient, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written, with superior communication skills.
- Familiarity with and positive attitude toward GenAI tools to augment writing, teaching, and learning.
- Previous teaching, tutoring, or writing support experience.
- Experience with Springshare LibApps.
- Expertise with webinar/webcasting/web conferencing software.
- Familiarity with CRLA ITTPC standards.
- Experience with Grammarly and Academic Writer
Writing Lab Manager

Online/RemoteThe Writing Lab Manager is a pivotal representative of the Learning Services department, responsible for managing and leading Writing Lab staff and services. This role liaises with various internal and external entities, encompassing academic management and leadership committees, advisory boards, accreditation and licensing organizations, and professional associations related to Writing Lab operations. The Writing Lab Manager is a writing expert who advocates for quality, developmentally appropriate writing skill instruction and recognizes written communication as critical to learning outcomes for students across programs and credential levels. This role effectively navigates the rapidly changing landscape of writing instruction and embraces emerging technologies to advance teaching and learning.

The Writing Lab Manager reports to the Associate Director of Learning Services, who reports to the Director of Library & Learning Services. The Writing Manager manages writing support services in multiple modalities and supervises professional and part-time Work Study staff within the center. The Writing Lab Manager formally supervises and manages others. Supervisory experience is required.
