      Position Overview:

      The X-Ray technologist supports the operations of the TB program by performing diagnostic digital x-rays. Assures operations of the digital x-ray equipment is in compliance and assures digital x-rays maintenance logs are complete on a monthly basis. Performs clerical duties for the program and data capture of x-rays performed. Performs monthly shield checks and maintains performance logs of dosimeter measurement. Reports issues and reviews machine certification license with Harris County Public Health Radiation safety officer to ensure x-ray equipment is in compliance.


      Duties & Responsibilities:

      • Prepares and makes minor adjustments to x-ray equipment in preparation for clinic services each clinic day. Ensures optimal radiographic imaging, allowing for adequate diagnostic reading and review.
      • Provides both clerical and clinical support, including data entry, inventory management, assisting with patient workflow, and performing other general support duties as needed.
      • Ensure the HCPH Clinics are in full compliance with Texas Department of Health Bureau of Radiation Control regulations. Maintain HCPH Radiation protection program manual at each appropriate HCPH Clinics and works with HCPH Radiation safety officer to maintain compliance.
      • Must adhere to Radiation Safety guidelines by using proper equipment including dosimetry badges and patient shields.
      • Responsible for maintaining patient files, x-rays, and reports for quality assurance.
      • Responsible for logging and transferring x-ray files to and from contract radiologist, ensuring appropriate radiologist review and readings are adequately documented in patient record.
      • Data capture of patient information, electronic data processing and data quality control activities related to the maintenance of the electronic TB Data and collection and /or record system entry of x-ray encounters.
      • Performs and documents annual evaluations of lead aprons in compliance with safely standards.

      Education:

      • Associate’s degree in radiologic technology.

      Experience:

      • At least one (1) year or medical experience in a health clinic, physician's office or hospital.

      Licensure/Certification:

      • Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
      • Active Texas Medical Board Licensure with no restrictions.
      • Valid Texas Driver's License.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Proficient in MS Office Suites (Word, Excel Power-point, Outlook)

      Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

      • This is a grant-funded full-time position.
      • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends.
      • Able to travel within Harris County as needed.

      Work Environment:

      • This job operated in clinical office and field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines.

      Physical Demands:

      • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 pounds and bending and standing for periods at a time.
