      OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

      In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, (CPLC) Chicanos por la Causa will be providing short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. (CPLC) Chicanos por la Causa will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.


      (CPLC’s) Chicanos por la Causa ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey.

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

      This position is not a supervisory position .

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

      • Ensures the supervision of assigned on-site Youth Care Worker staff.

      • Provides documentation of supervision by completing a supervisory log for all staff supervised.

      • Completes all required documentation that pertains to this position in a timely fashion that may include daily reports.

      • Ensures that appropriate line of sight supervision of clients by assigned staff is handled appropriately and organized.

      • Assists during transition and movement of clients from one activity to the next
        and one physical location to another.

      • Must be available to fill in positions where needed when asked, this includes support in Pods, hallways, medical coordination, shower schedules, food schedules, and recreation.

      • May be required to accompany Clients in various situations, i.e. remain in medical area with client indefinitely, travel and stay with clients for hospital trips.

      • Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, training programs as required.

      • Provides coverage for assigned staff when needed.

      • Responsible for adhering to ORR and other state regulations.

      • Performs duties in a safe manner.

      • Follows safety protocol.

      • Oversee staff and youth working a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; ability to respond to crises situations when necessary.

      • Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.

      • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.

      • Encourages co-workers to work safely.

      • Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.

      • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

      • Other duties as assigned such as travel or/and driving.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS

      • Ability to sit or stand for more than 8 hours per day.

      • Must be willing to work over time, if necessary

      • Ability to perform duties in a safe manner.

      • Ability to follow the safety protocol.

      • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

      • Ability to perform other duties as assigned within scope of work and responsibility.

      • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

      • Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products required.

      • Must have the ability to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction from manage

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

      • High School Diploma or equivalent degree and a minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adol escents.

      • Minimum age of 21 years or older.

      • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

      • Must possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s License meeting company standards of insurability .

      • Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.

      • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and be organized.

      • Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.

      • Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for clients in care when necessary.

      • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.

      • Clean criminal background check.

      • Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check.

      • Must be able to stand, bend, or stoop for the entire duration of the shift, as
        necessary.

      • Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors throughout the entire
        duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.

      • Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients.

      • In a sudden or emergency event, staff must at all times be physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, apply approved restraint techniques and otherwise manage or coerce the full weight of client.

      • Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily
        and safely care of clients if accommodations are required.

      Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19. Newly hired employees, who are not Fully Vaccinated at the time of hire, are expected to begin a vaccination series immediately upon hire. CPLC recognizes medical and religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, in accordance with applicable law and upon approval by CPLC. However, any person approved for an exemption, without exception, is subject to masking, and other requirements established by CPLC from time to time.
